Unilever acquires Inmarko from EBRD and Norum

Inmarko, the largest ice-cream producer in Siberia, was acquired by Unilever. The deal will strengthen Unilever’s position as the world’s No. 1 ice cream company, as well as its competitive position in Russia.

Founded in 1991, Inmarko is the largest ice-cream producer in Siberia, and one of the top-5 in Russia. The Company has a strong brand and product portfolio with clear market leadership in Central and Eastern Russia and a fast-growing business across all regions of the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan.

Inmarko operates three factories located in Novosibirsk, Omsk and Tula, and currently employs more than 4,500 people. In 2007, the Company had a turnover of approximately € 115 million.

In 2003, the EBRD and Norum became shareholders in Inmarko.

Since its inception in 1995 Norum has invested in 24 companies from two funds (Norum I and Norum II), within various sectors and regions in Russia and with main focus on Russian SME. Investors in Norum I and II were EBRD, DnB NOR Bank ASA, Sitra, Finnfund and CES Nordic, as well as the key managers of the investment team.

Norum has offices in Moscow and St. Petersburg and strong networks in the Russian regions. Norum III had its first closing in July 2007, with investors like EBRD, FMO, IFC, DnB NOR Bank ASA, Sitra and Innovation Norway.
