BaltCap Acquires 75% Stake in Quattromed HTI Laborid

BaltCap a Baltic State Private Equity firm has acquired a 75% stake in Estonia’s largest, private medical diagnostic company-Quattromed HTI Laborid. Medicap Holdings served as the holding company during the transaction. Individual Estonian investors and a Finnish Biotech company, FIT Biotech, were identified as the sellers; however, neither party would reveal the size of the transaction.

Quattromed is Estonia’s largest private capital based medical laboratory, with over a decade of providing lab services to individuals. Quattromed’s areas of service include diagnostics in the areas of Monoclonal Antibodies (mAB’s), DNA/RNA purification, enzyme production and vector sequencing. Quattromed practices in several areas including Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Cytology and Immunology.

Quattromed’s main service is their Molecular Diagnostics using PCR(Polymerase Chain Reaction–a scientific method by which DNA is amplified and used as a mechanism to identify certain viruses). Utilizing this allows Quattromed to detect HPV(Human Papilloma Virus–leading cause of Cervical Cancer), Hepatitis C and Hepatitis B. Quattromed possess a vast network of distributors stretching from Great Britian to Malaysia.
