The EBRD has agreed to commit up to EUR 50 million to Syntaxis for their Mezzanine Fund II. The EBRD investment follows an anchor investment of EUR 25 million the bank made in the first Syntaxis fund. Other investors are expected to contribute and may include commercial and investment banks, as well as other private investors, including European and US institutional investors.
Syntaxis Mezzanine Fund II
Syntaxis is an independent mezzanine provider operating in Central Europe, with the new Mezzanine Fund II planning to seek opportunities in acquisitions, buyouts, expansion projects, and restructurings. With the final close of its first fund late last year, and that fund’s 80% investment to date, Syntaxis Mezzanine Fund II was established to continue the firm’s investment strategy.
The target size of the fund has been set at EUR 250 million with a EUR 300 million maximum. As is the case with most EBRD investments, Syntaxis Mezzanine Fund II will be expected to follow the EBRD’s environmental procedures and standards.
