Bulgarian Callpoint New Europe Attracts EUR 3 mln from EBRD

T he Bulgarian division of CallPoint New Europe Ltd., Cyprus, has garnered a EUR 3 mln minority equity investment from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The funds will go towards expanding operational capacity up to 2,000 seats by 2013. The investment leaves 79 percent of the company with the original 100 percent stakeholders, but requires EBRD consent for any securities sales. This is EBRD’s first foray into the Bulgarian business process outsourcing (BPO) market.

CallPoint New Europe Bulgaria was set up in 2004, and provides multi-vertical client services in more than 20 European languages. Their three facilities in Sofia and Plovdiv (Bulgaria), and Bucharest (Romania), currently employ 900 full time employees – to expand to 4,000 by 2013. In 2010, the company posted 64 percent YoY revenue growth (BGN 15 mln); its primary client base is in Western European countries, with services also provided to Bulgarian and Romanian companies.
