Specialization is becoming a trend in the startup acceleration domain, and joining the bandwagon in the cloud software industry are Runa Capital and Parallels. Both companies were founded by Serguei Beloussov, Russian entrepreneur/investor; while Runa Capital primarily invests in growth-stage companies in the technology sector, Parallels specializes in providing hosting and virtualization software and related services. The pair’s intention is to source APS-certified cloud products from chosen accelerator companies and offer them to their own network of more than 12 mln SMEs, which are already serviced by more than 5000 providers. The success of this venture will depend on Parallel’s ability to mobilize their own resources in optimizing sales for their accelerator companies. With a staff of 800 worldwide, this could easily prove to go either way.
