Prague-based brewery Starbev has attracted several notable buyers since word got out that they’re looking to sell. Currently owned by CVC, Starbev has the likes of SABMiller and ABI (which Starbev originally spun out from for EUR 3 bln) displaying keen interest. ABI, which has the right to make the first offer, is rumored to be considering a bid even though its overall strategy clashes with the ‘small countries’ approach of Starbev.
Starbev is a Prague-based brewery that is currently owned by CVC. The company, which is a market leader in the CEE region, boasts more than 20 brands that include local labels such as Staropramen, the Czech Republic’s original lager, Jelen and Kamenzita, as well as international premium brands brewed and distributed under license, such as Lowenbrau and Beck’s. Established in 2009, Starbev now has over 4,000 employees working across more than half a dozen production and operations units in the CEE.
