RUSNANO has recently added to its nanotechnology portfolio with a EUR 25 mln investment in Beneq, Finland-based manufacturers of thin-film and specialized functional coating equipment and technologies. The investment was made in the form of share purchases and capital injection, and will be used to expand the company’s activities as well as focus on markets showing rapid growth, such as Russia and the CIS.
Beneq, based in Finland, is a global supplier of thin film technology products and equipment. The company’s thin film coating technology is used for several applications, including solar panels, touch screens, flexible electronics and many more emerging uses. The company was spun off from Nextrom Oy in 2005, and posted EUR 0.6 mln in revenues the very first year with just 12 employees. Growing from strength to strength, the company has won several awards over the years, including the top 50 most promising Cleantech companies as well as the Nanotech Finland award. The company now holds close to 100 patent groups, and operates in all continents, supplying atomic layer deposition (ALD) technology, products and equipment to its buyers.
